Appointment Meetings and Getting Started

21 December 2016

When new adult leaders are recruited there are a number of steps to be completed before their new appointment reaches Full status. This information covers two of these steps.

Meeting with Appointments Committee

Prospective leaders will meet with three members of the Appointments Committee. This is nothing to be concerned about and just allows the committee to get to know them better and for the new leader to ask any questions they may have. Once notified of a new leader by Compass, Norrie will make direct contact with them advising the next available date. These meetings are scheduled for Tuesday evenings every two months and the dates for 2017 are shown below. The venues used depend on where the applicants for the next round of meetings do their Scouting but
some travelling may be required. More information on this from Norrie –

Getting Started training

Modules 1, 2 and 3 need to be completed within 5 months. The District plans to run sessions as below, although additional sessions may be run where there is sufficient demand. It is also possible for leaders from the Borders to join sessions being offered elsewhere in SE Region. Unless advised to the contrary, the routine Borders sessions will be held in the Hayward Scout Centre in Galashiels on Sunday afternoons from 1pm to 5pm.
